New Moon Beach HsinChu
A beautiful beach located south of Taipei, about one hour away. Is well organized with shower heads about 50 meters from the sandy beach. It is one of the two spots in Taiwan that you are always under the watchful eye of Taiwan’s very own coast guard, so you know that it is time for you to pull out the sickest tricks in your bag. The ocean surface tends to be a bit wavy like most of the beaches located in the northern part of Taiwan.
This is a good spot all year round. In the winter the wind needs to be blowing in from the north, if the direction shifts from the east, the wind becomes gusty. Then it is a good time to move to another beach, Guanyin。
Vito is the local IKO certified kitesurfing instructor stationed at this beach. There is no way you can miss his shop, but you won’t find him there unless you make an appointment. Vito’s shop is located on the side of the road as you enter into the beach, for those of you who are planning to go, you’ve got to give Vito a call, or you are only going to see his signature slogan “Open when he wants to be”. (Of course in Chinese)
On the weekend there are bunch of other small vendors close to the beach, so if you are famished after a kiting session, you don’t need to worry about putting those unwanted calories right back on the middle section of you body. I think that is probably one those things you’ll notice about Taiwanese kiters, very few of us are super fit.
